International stakeholders’ dialogue on Rohingya crisis kicks off in Cox’s Bazar
The session provided a platform for both Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and members of the Rohingya diaspora to voice their perspectives directly to policymakers and international observers

A three-day international conference, "Stakeholders' Dialogue: Takeaways to the High-Level Conference on Rohingya Situation," began in Cox's Bazar today (24 August), bringing together global and local stakeholders to explore durable solutions to the protracted Rohingya crisis.
The opening day featured a special interactive session dedicated to Rohingya representatives, focusing on confidence-building measures and creating a conducive environment for their potential repatriation.
The session provided a platform for both Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and members of the Rohingya diaspora to voice their perspectives directly to policymakers and international observers.
High Representative for the Rohingya Issue and Bangladesh National Security Adviser Khaliur Rahman, and Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam attended the session.
Rohingya community leaders Lucky Karim, Mohammed Rofique (Khin Maung), and Omar Salma moderated the session.
Speakers included Soyedullah, Furquan Mirza, Abdullah Hujjout Ullah, Sahat Zia Hero, Abdul Amin, Jaitun Nara, Jihin Noor, and Ro Mujif Khan, with diaspora representatives also contributing.
UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar, Thomas H Andrews, joined the discussion, along with representatives from diplomatic missions, UN agencies, international organisations, media, experts, and civil society.
Key UN officials in attendance included United Nations Resident Coordinator Rana Flowers, head of the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar Nicholas Koumjian, and UNHCR Assistant High Commissioner Raouf Mazou.
The session also saw participation from major political parties in Bangladesh, including BNP, Bangladesh Jamaat-e Islami, NCP, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, and Gono Odhikar Parishad, highlighting the cross-party interest in addressing the Rohingya situation.
The main conference session will be inaugurated on Monday by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, marking the formal start of deliberations aimed at shaping recommendations for the upcoming High-Level Conference on the Rohingya issue.
