Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farjana Haque passed the order

A Dhaka court today (24 August) placed two officials of Flight Expert, an online travel agency of the country, on a two-day remand each in a case lodged over embezzlement of Tk32.39 crore from Hazi Air Travels.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farjana Haque passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day remand each.
The two accused are Flight Expert's Chief Operating Officer AKM Sadat Hossain and Chief Commercial Officer Sayed Ahmed.
On 2 August, police arrested them in the case filed with the Motijheel Police Station. On the following day, they were sent to jail by the court.
According to the case, the defendants signed an agreement with Haji Air Travels on 8 February 2021 regarding ticket sales. Following the agreement, the defendants sold tickets to various individuals and organisations using the company's IATA code and remitted only part of the proceeds. As a result, the outstanding amount grew to Tk32.39 crore by 2 August.
In connection with this matter, a case was filed at Paltan Police Station on 5 August, naming Flight Expert's Managing Director Salman bin Rashid Shah Sayem as the main accused. AKM Sadat Hossain and Sayeed Ahmed are also made accused in the case.
