Bangladesh lose 1-0 to Singapore after tough battle
Bangladesh showed more fight after their Malaysia defeat, but Harhys Stewart's first-half header left them empty-handed again.
Singapore beat Bangladesh 1-0 in their Fifa Asean Cup Group A match in Jakarta today (28 September), with Harhys Stewart scoring the winner in the 35th minute.
Bangladesh made four changes after their 3-0 defeat to Malaysia, bringing in Zidane Yousuf, Jamal Bhuiyan, Shuki Itofusa and Sheikh Morsalin.
The changes helped Bangladesh defend with greater discipline, but Singapore still found the breakthrough when Nur Adam Abdullah crossed for Stewart, who headed past Mehedi Hasan Srabon.
Bangladesh pushed for an equaliser, with Fahmidul Islam attacking from the left and Rakib Hossain from the right.
In the closing stages, Hamza Choudhury also moved forward to help find a goal, but Bangladesh could not break through and suffered their second defeat in two matches.
Bangladesh will face hosts Indonesia in their final Group A match on 1 October at 6:30pm Bangladesh time at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.
