Biplobi Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Huq on Friday (11 April) raised concerns over the intention of the interim government following the home adviser's comment on people's expectation that it should remain in power for five years.
"Our home adviser has said that people are saying this government should stay in power for five years. I would like to ask him, are you expressing the government's thoughts? What exactly is your agenda? What is the real objective behind such comments?" Huq said.
He made the remarks while speaking at a solidarity human chain programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club.

Huq also questioned the underlying motives behind such a statement, urging the government to clarify its position.
Biplobi Jubo Sanghati organised the programme, demanding an end to the genocide in Gaza, the liberation of Palestine from occupation, and the prosecution of Netanyahu and his genocidal clique.
He said when the home adviser talks about remaining in power for five years, citing public demand, questions inevitably arise about the government's intentions. "There will be questions about whether you have a different and hidden agenda, or if there is a new agenda at play."
He also said if the home adviser has expressed the interim government's true intentions, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus should clearly communicate their stance to the people.
Talking to reporters after a programme in Sunamganj on Thursday, Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that people are telling them to stay for five more years.
Huq, the general secretary of Biplobi Workers Party, one of the political allies of BNP, urged the chief adviser to take steps to stop the exaggeration and inflated language used by advisers of his administration for the sake of political stability.
"What you are doing in the name of the people will create confusion between the government and political parties, and increase distrust. As a result, whatever progress we could have made may be at risk of being undone," he warned.
Huq also called upon the chief adviser to warn the members of the advisory council of the interim government to refrain from making unguarded comments. "If they defy the warning, dismiss them. If necessary, appoint new responsible individuals."
On behalf of Biplobi Workers Party, he also demanded the government arrange the parliamentary election by December this year.
Huq also slammed India for its sudden suspension of transshipment, describing it as a breach of international norms and "not the behaviour of a responsible neighbour."
He said such unilateral actions go against the spirit of friendship and urged the interim Bangladesh government to immediately halt India-centric projects like the Rampal power plant, claiming they serve foreign interests over national ones.
Huq demanded all "anti-national and security-threatening" agreements with India be made public, reviewed, and scrapped if found contrary to Bangladesh's interests.
Calling for equal, respectful bilateral relations, he also said all outstanding problems with India must be resolved based on fairness and shared dignity.
Huq warned New Delhi against viewing Bangladesh through the lens of "Hasina's fascist regime" and urged Indian policymakers to build ties with the people of Bangladesh, not just a particular party.
"We want to live like honest neighbours. If you put us at risk, the region will remain unstable," the Biplobi Workers Party leader said.
Huq declared unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, saying the people of Bangladesh will stand with Palestine until it is fully liberated.
He demanded an immediate end to the ongoing genocide and occupation by Israel and called for global pressure to stop the aggression.
"A global public opinion in support of an independent Palestinian state is taking shape, and the 18 crore people of Bangladesh stand united with that sentiment to compel Israel to surrender and end its oppression."
