BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is set to attend an event organised to honour the families of the July Uprising martyrs.

The programme, "People's Uprising 2024: National Unity and Democratic Journey," will be held at 3:00pm today (1 July) at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, currently in London, is scheduled to virtually inaugurate the event while Khaleda Zia will attend as chief guest. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be present as special guest, while BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi will preside over the event.

Additionally, BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan noted that the event will feature speeches by family members of the July-August movement's martyrs.

The programme is part of a month-long campaign announced by the party to mark the anniversary of the July Uprising. The observance began on 30 June and will continue until 6 August, with a series of programmes planned to honour those who lost their lives during the July uprising.
