Belgian firm to dredge Payra Port
The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement approved four procurement proposals at a cost of Tk428 crore
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the appointment of Jan De Nul, a Belgian-based dredging company, to dredge the inner and outer channels of the Rabnabad Channel at Payra Port in Patuakhali.
A meeting chaired by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday approved the proposal to hire the Belgian company on a direct purchase basis.
After the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Dr Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal shared the information.

The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement, chaired by the finance minister, approved four procurement proposals at a cost of Tk428 crore. They include freeing the rivers Buriganga, Turag, New Dhaleshwari, Pungli and Bangshai and developing the water supply network of the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) in Dhaka.
Of this, Tk176 crore would come from the government and the remaining Tk253 crore from the Asian Development Bank.
Abu Saleh said LA and TTLA have been hired as contractors for the completion of a package under the Buriganga River Rehabilitation Project at a cost of about Tk51 crore.
Dhaka Wasa's proposal to hire Ludwig Pfeiffer Hochund Tiefbau GmbH and Co, the lowest bidder for a package of work under the Dhaka Water Supply Network Improvement Project, has been approved. It is due to cost Tk164 crore.
Under this package, 164 kilometers of water lines in the management, operation and developments (Mods) Zone 7 area will be rehabilitated.
