'I have no relation with this': Ahsan Mansur debunks Joy’s allegations over daughter’s Dubai flat
“My name is shown in the property document as her father. It is very sad that Joy is talking about such an issue,” said the governor

Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur did not buy his daughter Mehreen Sarah Mansur a Tk45 crore property in Dubai, the governor told The Business Standard, debunking allegations brought by Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of and former adviser to ousted premier Sheikh Hasina, in a shared Facebook post earlier today (10 June).
"This is my daughter's property, which was bought in 2023, well before I became governor. My daughter is married and lives with her husband and children in Dubai due to their business there. She can buy a house on her own at nearly 40 years of age. I don't have any relation with this," Ahsan H Mansur said.
"Moreover, 80% of the property value is mortgaged," he added.
Earlier yesterday, Sajeeb brought the allegations against the governor through a shared post made by SM Jakir Hossain, ex-general secretary of the banned outfit Chhatra League's central executive committee.
In the post, Jakir, without providing any concrete proof, alleged that Ahsan H Mansur has bought his daughter a flat in Dubai worth more than 13.5 million dirham or Tk45 crore on 24 December 2024 after being appointed as the Bangladesh Bank governor.
Citing unnamed sources, Jakir alleged that the 438 square metre property has been found in the name of Mansur's daughter in Dubai. He attached the layout design of the property, photos and a document, which he claimed shows the owners' name – Mehreen Sarah Mansur and Ahsan Habib Mansur.
Without providing any proof, the post further alleged that Mansur is involved in money laundering.
Speaking to TBS, Mansur also clarified that his name is shown in the property document, attached to the Facebook post Joy shared, as the father of Sarah Mansur.
"My name is shown in the property document as her father. It is very sad that Joy is talking about such an issue," said the governor.
Joy's new passion: Spreading daily dose of disinformation
This is not the first time Sajeeb Wazed Joy has been propagating unreliable and false information in his attempt to discredit the interim government and the people involved in the July mass uprising.
Ever since the Awami League government was ousted from power through the mass uprising and an interim government took charge, the party's activists and machineries have engaged in a sustained disinformation campaign against the leaders of the uprising and the officials in the new government.
The ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's son, Sajeeb Wajed Joy, seems to have taken a leading role in that, posting frequently on social media every day.
Later yesterday he reposted another Facebook video actually made by Somoy TV that shows army personnel recovering a "gun" from a college student's home in Narail's Kalia upazila during a late-night raid on Sunday.
Although a debate sparked over the nature of the gun, initially identified as a sniper rifle but later turned out to be an air rifle that can be bought online, Sajeeb claimed the "sniper rifle" was recovered from a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, a students' platform that triggered the mass uprising against his mother's government.
He went on suggesting that such guns were used to shoot students and civilians during the movement against the AL government.
"So, who shot students and civilians during the movement against our government?" he asked, drawing quick conclusions based on a misidentification of a harmless gun.
