Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has decided to halt the movement of human haulers and lagunas on the main streets of Uttara to facilitate uninterrupted circular bus service in the area.

The movement of rickshaws will also be restricted inside the residential area.

DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam announced the decisions at a discussion session on civic amenities with Uttara residents at Bangladesh Club on Wednesday.

Though there are thousands of rickshaws roaming in the area every day, the DNCC officials have reported that only 33 among them are licensed.

The residents also raised objections about commercial activities inside residential areas, saying such activities are disrupting their regular life.

The mayor assured them that such activities will be relocated elsewhere.

He also urged the residents to cooperate with police and the DNCC to make the area livable.
