HSC examinee dies after falling from Notre Dame College building in Dhaka

A Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinee died after falling from the sixth floor of a building at the Notre Dame College in Dhaka today (12 May).
The deceased, Dhrubo Druto Das (18), was initially rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Later, around 4:15pm, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors pronounced him dead, said Sub-Inspector Masud of the DMCH police outpost.
Dhrubo was the eldest of two siblings and hailed from Modhyopara village in Gaibandha Sadar upazila. He lived with his family in the Gopibagh area of Dhaka.
According to his father, Bani Druto Das, Dhrubo had gone to the college to collect his admit card for the HSC exams.
"I was waiting outside the gate. He called and said, 'Baba, give me 5-10 minutes.' Moments later, the gate opened and I saw students rushing out. Then I saw them carrying my son, covered in blood," he said.
"I still don't know what exactly happened. Dhrubo had no enemies. He might have accidentally fallen from the balcony," he added.
Nafiz Madad Rahman, a student of Notre Dame College, said, "We heard a sudden loud noise and ran outside. We found Dhrubo lying on the ground, seriously injured and bleeding. We immediately took him to the hospital."
SI Masud said the body has been kept in the DMCH morgue for autopsy and the incident has been reported to the local police station.
