Holiday declared in 3 hill districts on 13 April for Chaitra Sankranti
In other districts, the holiday will remain optional for those concerned with the celebration

The government has announced a general holiday for Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban districts on 13 April to observe Chaitra Sankranti (the last day of the Bengali calendar).
A Ministry of Public Administration notification, issued today (27 March), also designates 13 April as an optional holiday for individuals celebrating Chaitra Sankranti in other districts.
According to the notification, all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices in the three hill districts will remain closed on this day.
However, emergency services, including electricity, water, gas, fire service, port operations, sanitation, telecommunications, postal services, and related transportation, will remain operational. Hospitals, emergency medical services, and related personnel will also be exempt.
Additionally, hospitals, emergency medical services, doctors, medical transport, and staff involved in essential healthcare operations will be exempt from the holiday.
Offices handling urgent tasks will also remain operational.
The notification further mentioned that the Bangladesh Bank will issue necessary instructions regarding banking activities for 13 April, while the Supreme Court will provide directives on court operations.
