State Minister Muhit inaugurates women-led, tech-enabled 'Vision Centre' in Sirajganj
Muhit urged people to overcome social stigma surrounding the use of spectacles and encouraged students to act as "vision ambassadors" by referring patients with eye problems to the centre.
A women-led, technology-enabled vision centre has been inaugurated in Jamirta of Shahzadpur, Sirajganj, aiming to expand access to quality eye care for people in remote communities.
State Minister for Health Dr MA Muhit formally inaugurated the centre today (25 July).
Speaking on the occasion, Muhit said the centre marks a milestone in the government's plan to bring modern eye care services to rural Bangladesh. "Through telemedicine, residents of remote areas in Shahzadpur will be able to receive consultations from specialist ophthalmologists based in Dhaka and even overseas, including New York, without leaving their homes."

The facility has been established under the Future Vision Centre project with support from Orbis International and funding from the Amund Foundation. It will be operated by Professor MA Matin BNSB Base Eye Hospital.
