The National Healthcare Network (NHN) has emerged as a centre of medical excellence providing both comprehensive healthcare and diagnostic services at affordable costs to the people at their doorsteps, leading physicians and medical experts have said.

"NHN, an enterprise of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS), has been established with the primary objective of providing quality diagnostic services across the country at a reasonable cost," said Syed Manzur Elahi, president of NHN Advisory Board, at the 3rd NHN Scientific Meeting in the capital yesterday.

The meeting witnessed the presence of many medical experts from home and abroad, with the causes, remedies, and proper management of diabetes and other diseases being the highlights.

Manzur Elahi added that NHN, with its seven hospitals and 23 medical centres, provides quality medical services to the doorsteps of people.

"To provide the best treatment, we have to buy more medical equipment and, for this, we are now trying to make all the centres profitable," he added.

"Equipment is so costly that without profit it will be harder to avail," Manzur explained.

Addressing as the chief guest, Diabetic Association President, Prof AK Azad Khan said digitisation is crucial in medical care now, and NHN is pioneering this through piloting different medical technology in the country.

"NHN is to expand its reach to cover the whole country without compromising the quality of service, reliability and affordable prices, aiming at establishing NHN as a leader in the healthcare field"

To this end, NHN will expand its health programmes through cross-cutting with other institutions, Azad added.
