Measles: Death toll reaches 991 as 4 more children die in 24hrs
The country recorded 843 new suspected measles cases during the 24-hour period.
Four more children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours, raising Bangladesh's combined confirmed and suspected measles-related death toll to 991, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the total deaths, 891 are suspected to be measles-related, while 100 have been laboratory-confirmed, according to the latest DGHS data released today (5 September).
The country recorded 843 new suspected measles cases during the 24-hour period, taking the cumulative number to 163,105.
Another 74 laboratory-confirmed cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 19,641.
Since 15 March, a total of 143,214 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised nationwide. Of them, 137,921 have recovered, the DGHS said.
