Parvej, an outsourcing employee of the hospital said, "Although the government is giving incentives to the people who provide medical services during Covid-19 crisis, we are not even getting our monthly salaries for six months."

However, the protesting employees returned to the work around 11 am when the authorities gave assurance of payment of their arrears.

Dr Asim Kumar Nath, Superintendent of the hospital, said 36 people were recruited to solve the manpower crisis of the hospital. But the workers have not been paid for six months as there was no government allocation.

The outsourcing workers mainly do cleaning up the hospital, helping the patients, bringing or getting out equipment from the corona unit and transferring the dead bodies from one place to another.

Dr Asim Kumar said, "We informed Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Deputy Minister of Education and also the president of the hospital management committee, of this matter."

The hospital previously had 100-bed for Covid-19 patients. As the number of Covid-19 patients increased day by day, the hospital added 50 more beds to cope with the pressure.
