Experts discuss Bangladesh–India cooperation to improve cancer treatment
Speakers said improving healthcare standards in both countries is possible through integrated efforts.
Health experts from Bangladesh and India gathered in Dhaka to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in cancer treatment through technology exchange, training, and joint initiatives.
The roundtable, organised by the World Cancer Society Bangladesh in collaboration with PIMS Super Speciality Hospital, was held yesterday (18 April) at a venue in the capital's Moghbazar area.
The session was chaired by Syed Humayun Kabir, president of the organisation. Hasina Banu attended as the chief guest, while Habibullah Talukder Ruskin delivered the keynote speech.
Indian specialists, including Kamal Kishore Bishnoi and Quresh Bambora, also shared international perspectives during the discussion.
Speakers said improving healthcare standards in both countries is possible through integrated efforts.
They stressed the importance of adopting advanced medical technology, enhancing physicians' skills, and expanding fellowship and training programmes to better manage complex diseases such as cancer.
Participants also noted that sharing knowledge and experience between Bangladesh and India could help build a more sustainable and effective healthcare system, ultimately benefiting people in both countries.
Among others, Kamal Hossain, general secretary of the organisation, along with physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals, attended the event.
