Dhaka North begins ‘Emergency measles vaccine campaign 2026’ today
Dhaka North City Corporation has set up 54 permanent vaccination centres and 502 temporary centres. Vaccination activities will also be carried out through 35 evening centres and eight Friday centres.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) today (12 April) launched the Emergency Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026, aiming to vaccinate around 5 lakh children aged between 6 months and 5 years.
The campaign, which will run from 12 April to 11 May, is being conducted through a total of 558 vaccination centres - both permanent and temporary - across 10 zones of Dhaka North.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr MA Muhit inaugurated the campaign at Korail in the capital, while DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan attended the event as a special guest.
Speaking at the programme, the state minister said every child aged between 6 months and 5 years must receive the measles-rubella vaccine.
He added that the vaccination programme initially began in 17 upazilas across the country and was later expanded to four city corporations. From 20 April, the vaccination drive will start nationwide.
Dhaka North Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan said the city corporation's Covid Hospital in Mohakhali will be converted into a general hospital to improve healthcare services using existing infrastructure.

However, a total of 594 vaccinators, 650 volunteers and 203 supervisors have been deployed.
