10 children die in 24 hours from measles and measles-like symptoms
At least 28 children died from confirmed measles infections so far this year
A total of 10 children died from measles and measles-like symptoms between 8am yesterday and 8am today (12 April), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), as the outbreak continues to intensify nationwide.
During the same 24-hour period, 1,268 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country.
Of them, 150 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles.
So far this year, at least 28 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh. In addition, 151 children have died with symptoms consistent with the disease.
DGHS data shows that between 15 March and 12 April, a total of 2,639 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
According to the latest health bulletin, 1,268 suspected cases have been identified nationwide, while 7,656 patients have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
