Dhaka Medical College to reopen Saturday, hostels to open Friday
The announcement follows a decision made in an emergency meeting of the Academic Council held on 8 July

After weeks of student protests and academic standstill, Dhaka Medical College (DMC) is set to reopen on Saturday (12 July).
The college dormitories will also be open to students from 8am on Friday (11 July), according to an official notice issued by DMC Principal Prof Dr Md Kamrul Alam on Wednesday night (9 July).
The announcement follows a decision made in an emergency meeting of the Academic Council held on 8 July.
Earlier, the unrest began in June, when students launched continuous protests demanding safe accommodation after several of the college's dormitories — especially Shaheed Dr Fazle Rabbi Hostel — were declared unsafe by the Public Works Department.
Despite the warnings, students have been living in the condemned buildings, raising concerns over possible casualties.
On 21 June, in an attempt to control the situation, the college authorities suspended academic activities indefinitely and ordered all students to vacate the hostels.
