DGHS orders temporary shutdown of Dhaka Trauma Centers
DGHS officials found several irregularities at the hospital when they visited it on July 18
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has ordered the Dhaka Trauma Center to temporarily shut down its activities until it renews its licence that expired before June 30, 2018.
The DGHS gave the order through a letter signed by its Director (Hospital & Clinic) Dr Aminul Hasan on July 21.
In the letter addressed to the managing director of the Dhaka Trauma Center, the DGHS also asked the hospital to explain clearly within seven days why the authority should not take legal action against it.

The DGHS officials found several irregularities at the hospital when they visited it on July 18, reads the letter.
It said the Dhaka Trauma Center did not display in an open space a list of fees and charges for treatment despite the High Court's order in this regard.
The hospital also did not have enough manpower appropriate for the number of beds it had. Ward boys and non-medical professionals were assisting the doctors who were operating on patients at the hospital.
According the DGHS's letter, the hospitals environment was unhygienic. Oxygen cylinders were kept dangerously there, which could cause accident anytime.
The DGHS officials also found the Dhaka Trauma Center's intensive care unit (ICU) closed and concluded that such a hospital is not competent to run an ICU.
