DGHS issues special instructions for hospitals ahead of 300 feet rally
According to the notices, the heads of all government hospitals in Dhaka and the surrounding areas have been instructed not to leave their workstations on the day and to ensure the readiness of their facilities.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has issued special instructions for government hospitals in Dhaka and its adjacent areas, citing the possibility of a large public gathering today (25 December).
The directives, issued in two separate notices signed by DGHS Director (Hospitals and Clinics) Dr Abu Hossain Md Moinul Ahsan yesterday (24 December), ask hospital authorities to remain prepared for any situation.
According to the notices, heads of all government hospitals in Dhaka and nearby areas have been instructed not to leave their workstations on the day and to ensure the readiness of their facilities.
The DGHS said the civil surgeon of Dhaka and the divisional director (health) of Dhaka division will deploy necessary medical teams at important locations in view of the gathering.
In a separate notice, the DGHS issued five instructions for all government hospitals across the country for three days from 25 December to 27 December.
The emergency departments of all hospitals have been asked to remain prepared with round-the-clock ambulances, physicians, and necessary manpower.
Hospital heads have been instructed to stay at their workstations during the period and to obtain prior approval from the director general before taking any kind of leave.
The DGHS said that if any patient injured in political violence arrives at a hospital, swift treatment must be ensured, and the local administration and law enforcement agencies must be informed immediately.
Details of such patients must also be reported to the director (hospitals) and the director general.
The notice added that the civil surgeon of Dhaka will deploy medical teams at key locations as required.
It also said local authorities will ensure necessary healthcare services at any public gathering site.
