Dengue outbreak: 3 deaths, 833 new cases detected overnight
Since the beginning of this year’s outbreak, Bangladesh has reported 326 dengue-related deaths, while 82,606 people have been infected so far
Health officials said today (13 November) that 833 new cases of dengue have been recorded across the country in the past 24 hours, while at least three patients have died from the mosquito-borne disease during the same period.
"We recorded the deaths of three dengue patients in the 24 hours ending at 8am today," a spokesman of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, adding that 833 new cases were detected across Bangladesh in the same timeframe.
According to DGHS statistics, one person died in an area under the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), one under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and one in the Rajshahi division.
Of the 833 new cases, 113 patients were hospitalised in the Barishal division, 119 in Chattogram, 158 in the Dhaka division excluding the capital, 116 in the DSCC area, 167 in the DNCC area, 77 in Mymensingh, 65 in Rajshahi, 12 in Rangpur, and six in Sylhet, the DGHS statement added.
Since the beginning of this year's outbreak, Bangladesh has reported 326 dengue-related deaths, while 82,606 people have been infected so far.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives and infected 101,214 people nationwide.
