Dengue: 5 more die, 636 hospitalised in 24hrs

Five more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till today (15 September), raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 155 this year.
During the period, 636 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the number of confirmed cases to 38,527 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the five recent deaths, three were women and two were men. Two of the dead were under treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital, and one each at Mugda Medical College Hospital, Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College, and Barguna 250-bed General Hospital.
Currently, 1,844 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the country, 1098 of which are from outside Dhaka.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.
