ACC summons 6 CMSD officials for interrogation
The Anti-Corruption Commission will grill them as part of its enquiry into corruption allegation over purchasing personal protective gear and other materials
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) investigators summoned six officials of Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) for interrogation as part of their enquiry into corruption allegation over purchasing personal protective gear and other materials.
ACC Director Mir Mohammad Zainul Abedin Sebly, who heads the enquiry, sent separate letters on Sunday to the CMSD officials, asking them to appear before the investigators.
The six officials are Dr Md Shahjahan, ex-assistant director (store and distribution) and currently assistant director of CMSD; Dr Sabbir Ahmed, ex-desk officer of CMSD; Kabir Ahmed, store officer; Md Yusuf Fakir, senior store keeper; Dr Zakir Hossain, deputy director; and Dr Ziaul Haque, ex-medical officer (chief coordinator) of CMSD.

The first three officials have been asked to appear before the ACC enquiry team on July 19, and the others on July 20.
Earlier, the anti-graft body interrogated five suppliers about the same allegations.
On June 18, the ACC formed the four-member team to enquire into allegations of corruption centring the purchases of N95 masks and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Headed by Mir Zainul Abedin Shebly, the committee is comprised of ACC Deputy Director Nurul Huda, and assistant directors Saiduzzaman and Ataur Rahman.
Documents sought from Mugda hospital and Hotel 71
As part of another enquiry, the ACC sent separate letters to the authorities of Mugda Medical College and Hospital, and Hotel 71 in the capital.
In the letters, the ACC sought information and documents of accommodation and other costs for doctors, nurses and technicians.
It also sought information regarding payment to Hotel 71.
