Health workers form human chain demanding arrears in Narayanganj
The employers have not paid their salaries for the last one year, even though they have been working in the health complexes under the district health department on temporary basis
More than 50 health workers who work on a contract basis at different health complexes in Narayanganj formed a human chain in front of Narayanganj Press Club on Thursday demanding their outstanding salaries for last one year.
The protest programme was called by Narayanganj Outsourcing Health Workers Association.
The organisation's president, Al Imran led the human chain that was also addressed by its Vice President Nazma Begum and General Secretary Mukul Chandra Debnath, among others.

Imran said the employers have not paid their salaries for the last one year, even though they have been working in the health complexes under the district health department on temporary basis.
"Five of the health workers have already been infected with the novel coronavirus. The workers are risking their lives to perform their duty," he added.
Health worker Nazma Begum claimed they had submitted a written application to the deputy commissioner and the district civil surgeon requesting them to take measures to clear the arrear salaries, but the issue was not resolved even after that.
Mukul Chandra Debnath said, "We have been providing services to patients suffering from the deadly coronavirus for a long time. Five of our colleagues have already been infected with coronavirus. But, we do not refrain from serving the patients."
"We are suffering with our family members as we are not getting our salaries," he said requesting the government to make their jobs permanent so that they can get their salaries and other allowances regularly.
