HC quashes ICT act case against Shahidul Alam
The case was originally filed against Shahidul Alam at Ramna Police Station on 6 August 2018.

The High Court has quashed the case against photographer and activist Shahidul Alam, filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
The verdict was announced today (7 August) by a High Court bench comprising Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Nasrin Akhter.
Senior lawyer Barrister Sara Hossain, assisted by Barrister Priya Ahsan Chowdhury, represented Alam in court.
The case was originally filed against Shahidul Alam at Ramna Police Station on 6 August 2018.
The accusations claimed Alam had spread "provocative false statements," which allegedly incited different classes of the public, harmed the state, and portrayed the government as ineffective on the international stage.
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court denied his bail application on the same day.
After spending 107 days in detention, Alam was granted bail and released on 20 November 2018.
Following an application by Shahidul Alam, the High Court had previously stayed the case's investigation for three months on 14 March 2019, while also issuing a rule on the legality of the investigation.
The court's verdict today disposed of that rule, effectively quashing the case.
