A murder case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, and several other leaders in Munshiganj over the killing of Nur Mohammad, alias Dipzol, 22, during a protest led by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement on 4 August.

The case, filed this morning (30 August) at the Sadar Police Station, names 313 people, including leaders of the Awami League and Chhatra League, and lists an additional 200-300 unidentified individuals as accused.

Aminul Islam, Sadar police station's officer-in-charge (OC), confirmed the filing of the case but declined to provide further details about the accused.

According to the complaint filed by Shefali Begum, Dipzol's grandmother, Dipzol was shot dead during the student protest in Munshiganj town's Supermarket area. The complaint also alleges that "certain corrupt and party-appointed police officers" assisted the accused in carrying out the attack.

On 20 August, another murder case was filed at the same police station against former Munshiganj-3 MP Faisal Biplob and 508 others over the shooting death of Riazul Farazi in the same area. That case was filed by Riazul's wife, Ruma Begum.

According to the eyewitnesses, around 2,000-3,000 Awami League activists allegedly entered Munshiganj town with weapons and explosives on 4 August, following directives from Mohammad Mohiuddin, former MP Faisal Biplob, and his wife, Munshiganj Municipal Mayor Chowdhury Fahriya Afrin, to attack students protesting against discrimination.

Three people were killed in the violence, with at least 95 others suffering gunshot wounds and over 150 injured in total.

The deceased were identified as Riazul Farazi, 38, Md Sajal, 30, and Dipzol, 22, all residents of the town's Uttar Islampur area.
