Hasina, Quader, 429 others sued in Bogura over attempt to murder

A case has been filed against 431 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, for allegedly attempting to murder Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activist Zakirul Islam during the July-August mass uprising of last year.
Zakirul filed the case at Bogura Sadar Police Station, naming 181 people and 250 unnamed others, on 16 March.
Confirming the matter to BSS, The Sadar police officer-in-charge (OC) (investigation) said further action would be taken after the investigation.
The other prominent accused in the case are Awami League's Bogura district unit President and former lawmaker Mojibur Rahman Mojnu, General Secretary and former lawmaker Ragebul Ahsan Ripu, Jatiyo Party's district unit President and former lawmaker Shariful Islam Jinnah, and Awami League leader Monjurul Alam Mohon.
According to the case documents, Zakirul along with students and other people brought out a rally at the Yakubia School intersection in Bogura town at 12 noon on 4 August. Awami League cadres and their cronies attacked the rally, firing gunshots and throwing crude bombs at the people.
Many protesters, including Zakirul, got injured in the attack. Zakirul received shrapnel injuries on different parts of his body.
