Hadi murder: Inqilab Mancha calls for 'all-out' blockade in all divisional cities today
The call for a blockade comes despite a visit to the protest site by Environment Adviser Rizwana and DMP Commissioner Sazzat Ali at around 11pm on Saturday
The Inqilab Mancha has called for an "all-out blockade" in all divisional cities across Bangladesh starting at 2pm today (28 December).
The protest is aimed at demanding the immediate arrest and trial of those involved in the killing of the platform's spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
The announcement was posted on Inqilab Mancha's official Facebook page late Saturday night, shortly after the platform's Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber declared the programme during a mass sit-in at the capital's Shahbagh intersection.
The call for a blockade comes despite a visit to the protest site by Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali at around 11pm on Saturday.
Adviser Rizwana Hasan assured the protesters that the interim government is fully committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice, reports Prothom Alo.
"The government is working tirelessly to identify those behind the murder of Shahid Osman Hadi," she said.
She urged them to remain cautious with information, noting, "We are operating against an opposing force, and we must ensure that no information shared provides any advantage to the enemy."
Besides, DMP Commissioner Sazzat Ali revealed that multiple law enforcement agencies, including the police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), are collaborating on the investigation.
"Significant breakthroughs have already been made," he said.
"So far, 10 individuals have been arrested. We have recovered two pistols used in the killing, a motorcycle, and signed checks amounting to Tk218 crore."
The DMP commissioner officially committed to submitting the formal charge sheet for the murder case by 7 January, promising a swift legal process.
