Govt to procure 1 cargo LNG, 30,000 MTs fertiliser

The government today (17 June) approved separate proposals for procuring one cargo of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and 30,000 metric tons (MTs) of fertiliser to meet the country's growing demand.
The approvals came from the 23rd meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP), held today at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo of LNG from the spot market, using the following international quotation method from M/S Excelerate Energy LP, USA, with around Tk612.54 crore.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of Industries, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) would procure 30,000 MTs of bagged granular urea fertiliser from KAFCO, Bangladesh under the 17th lot for the current fiscal year, with around Tk140.27 crore per ton of fertiliser costing $383.25.
The day's purchase committee meeting also approved separate proposals from the Road Transport and Highways Division and the Security Service Division.
