Govt plans to celebrate World Tourism Day with nationwide events
The celebrations will feature exhibitions, live cooking shows and other events across the country to promote Bangladesh’s tourism, culture and culinary heritage.
The government plans to mark World Tourism Day on 27 September with nationwide programmes aimed at promoting Bangladesh's tourism, culture and culinary heritage.
Preparations for the celebrations were discussed at a meeting at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism at the Bangladesh Secretariat today (23 July), according to a ministry press release.
This year's observance will be held under the theme, "Tourism of the Future through Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence."

Speaking at the meeting, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam said the government wanted to celebrate World Tourism Day across the country through a wide range of events.
She said exhibitions showcasing Bangladesh's traditional heritage and culture would be organised to promote the country's tourism attractions internationally.
The minister also instructed officials to ensure that the programmes are held simultaneously in districts across the country and sought cooperation from private-sector stakeholders to make the initiative a success.
State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat said television commercials produced by the Bangladesh Tourism Board would be screened at major public venues across the country as part of the celebrations.
He added that live cooking demonstrations and culinary competitions would be organised for guests from foreign embassies to showcase Bangladesh's culinary heritage.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Fahmida Akhtar and senior officials of the ministry and its affiliated organisations also attended the meeting.
World Tourism Day is observed every year on 27 September to highlight tourism's social, cultural, political and economic importance.
