Govt forms another taskforce for preparing white paper on ICT sector

The interim government today (20 April) formed a seven-member taskforce to prepare a white paper on irregularities and corruption over the past 15 years in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.
The five-member taskforce is headed by its convener Kamrul Hasan, a faculty of EEE at Buet, according to a gazette published by posts, telecommunications and ICT ministry today (20 April).
Other members are Mosabber Uddin Ahmed, a faculty of EEE at Dhaka University, Economist Niaz Asadullah, Lutfa Akter, faculty of EEE at Buet, Ekhlas Uddin Ahmed, an ICT expert and Fida Haq, an ICT expert and CEO of Shurjomukhi Limited.
The taskforce also has Md Azhar Uddin, a faculty of CSE department at DU, as its research assistant.
Earlier on 3 April, another taskforce was formed to prepare a white paper on the ICT sector, which is set to submit its report in two months.
The previous taskforce was led by Economist Niaz Asadullah and consisted of four members, including Muhammad Mustafa Hussain, a professor at Purdue University, Barrister Afzal Jami Syed-Ali, a law expert, Mahmud Salam Maruf, a technology specialist and Md Shariat Ullah, planning editor of Ajker Bangladesh.
The taskforce also had Asif Shahriyar Sushmit, a technology specialist, as its coordinator, a previous gazette published on 3 April said.
