Govt to form new city corporation merging Savar, Ashulia and Keraniganj

The government has taken a policy decision to establish Savar City Corporation by merging the municipality with Ashulia.
Besides, Keraniganj will either be upgraded to a Class-A municipality or brought under the jurisdiction of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Asif Mahmud Shojin Bhuiyan, adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, shared the information in a Facebook post on Tuesday (21 October).
"The government has made a policy decision to form Savar City Corporation by merging Savar Municipality and Ashulia, and to upgrade Keraniganj to a Class-A municipality or include it under Dhaka South City Corporation," his post read.
