Govt to distribute Tk39,000cr agricultural loan in FY26: Secretary

The government will distribute Tk39,000 crore agricultural and rural loans in the fiscal year 2025-26 (FY26), Agriculture Secretary Dr Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian said today (4 September).
"Efforts will be made to find and help those who need help to become real entrepreneurs," he said while speaking at a seminar titled "Innovative Power of Youth, Driving Force of Agricultural Transformation" held at the Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Gazipur Agricultural University.
The Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) organised the seminar as part of the government-announced 'Youth Festival 2025' programme.

Emdad Ullah Mian said this is the first time that the government has fixed the price of potatoes at the cold storage gate to support farmers.
Besides, the government has decided to purchase 50,000 tonnes of potatoes for the first time, he added.
BARC Executive Chairman Dr Nazmun Nahar Karim presided over the seminar.
