Govt designates 7 hotels to quarantine UK returnees
The Health Services Division asked the senior secretary to the civil aviation ministry to make arrangements in this regard.

The government has designated seven hotels in Dhaka to quarantine the passengers, who will return from the United Kingdom, in an effort to ward off the possible spread of the new variant of coronavirus inside the country.
The hotels are – Best Western Plus Maya of Nikunja, Omni residency of Banani, Hotel Grace-21 of Nikunja 2, Hotel Afford In, White Palace Hotel, Marino Royal Hotel, and Momenta Hotel of Uttara.
The passengers will have to bear all expenses for staying in the hotels during the quarantine period.

On 28 December, the government decided that passengers arriving from the United Kingdom (UK) will have to stay in a 14-day mandatory institutional quarantine to contain the spread of the new strain of Covid.
The new strain of the novel coronavirus - VUI–202012/01 – originated in the UK sometime in September and accounted for nearly 60% of all cases in London by mid-December. It is thought to be 70% more transmissible than the earlier versions of the coronavirus.
Scientists are still researching the effects, virulence, and severity of the new strain.
