Govt asks unregistered travel agencies to obtain licence by 6 November; warns of legal action
After the deadline, any agency found operating without valid registration will face legal action

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has warned that strict action will be taken against unregistered travel agencies if they fail to obtain registration by 6 November 2025.
In a press release issued today (16 October), the ministry said it has recently observed that several travel agencies across the country are operating without approval or registration from the ministry.
Such unauthorised operations have led to an increase in financial fraud, embezzlement, and other crimes related to air travel services, the statement said.
Despite repeated instructions from the ministry, the release continued, many unregistered agencies have yet to comply with registration requirements under the Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) Act, 2013, its 2021 amendment, and the 2022 regulations.
Operating a travel agency without a valid registration certificate or renewal is considered a serious legal offence, it added.
The ministry has urged all individuals and organisations currently running unregistered travel agency businesses to submit their registration applications through the online Travel Agency Management System (www.regtravelagency.gov.bd) by the 6 November deadline.
After the deadline, any agency found operating without valid registration will face legal action under the Travel Agency Registration and Control Acts (2013 and 2021), the Consumer Rights Protection Act (2009), and the Mobile Court Act (2009), the release warned.
