Govt to announce decision soon on July charter implementation, referendum: Rizwana
“Since seven days have passed, the government will now intervene. After internal discussions, the government will make the decision it deems appropriate,” she said.
The government's decision regarding the implementation of the July National Charter and the proposed referendum will be announced soon, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, said today (10 November).
Speaking to reporters at her office in the Secretariat, she noted that political parties had been invited by the government to reach a consensus on these issues, but they have not responded to the call.
Asked what the government would do next, she said, "The government has made its position clear. In many areas, political parties have already reached an agreement. For the issues where no consensus has been reached, parties are expected to sit together and arrive at a solution to inform the government.
"We understand that the political parties have not yet taken that step. We had said that if parties cannot resolve it among themselves, the government will take a position.
"Since seven days have passed, the government will now intervene. After internal discussions, the government will make the decision it deems appropriate."
She added that the government is consulting with all stakeholders while keeping a potential solution in mind and will announce the final decision very soon.
