German Ambassador to Bangladesh Rüdiger Lotz yesterday (14 May) visited the Venom Research Centre and Bangladesh National Poison Information Centre at Chittagong Medical College, expressing interest in antivenom research and potential collaboration in public health.
During the visit, he observed ongoing activities, including snake rearing, venom collection and preservation, and antivenom development, and was briefed on emergency treatment and information services for snakebite patients.
He said the centre plays an important role in reducing deaths and complications from snakebites.
