Gazipur 7-murder: ICT orders arrest of ex-IGP Javed Patwary, 4 others
The court also set 15 October as the deadline for submitting the investigation report

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has issued arrest warrants for five people, including former inspector general of police (IGP) Javed Patwary, in a case of crimes against humanity over the killing of seven youths in a staged "militant drama" in Gazipur's Joydebpur.
Today (18 August), a three-member bench led by Tribunal Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order.
The court also set 15 October as the deadline for submitting the investigation report.
Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim represented the state during the hearing and later confirmed the issuance of the warrants.
Prosecutor Tamim said that the names of the four other accused are not being released for the time being in the interest of arrest.
According to the prosecution, seven madrasa students were subjected to enforced disappearance in 2016. They were later confined to a house in Joydebpur, where they were killed on 8 October 2016 under the allegation of being militants.
At that time, the then home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal visited the scene and said the deceased were involved in militant activities and attempting to form a new wing of the banned militant group JMB.
Javed Patwary was the chief of the special branch of police at the time.
After today's proceedings, Prosecutor Tamim also informed the media that the officer-in-charge (OC) of Bangshal Police Station had appeared before the Tribunal to provide an update on witness protection in a separate crimes against humanity case.
Addressing him, the Tribunal stated, "Whoever threatens the witnesses, you will bring them all in. You will not spare anyone."
