Crimes against humanity trial against Hasina, Kamal enters day 8 of witness testimony
So far, 19 witnesses have testified
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 today (25 August) entered its eighth day of witness testimony in the trial of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and three others over alleged crimes against humanity committed during the July-August 2024 uprising.
The charges include enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and torture. The tribunal is led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mazumdar.
This morning, former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, who was previously an accused but has turned state witness, was brought to the tribunal to give his testimony.

So far, 19 witnesses have testified.
Yesterday (24 August), three people gave evidence, including Md Rajibul Islam, assistant professor at the Forensic Department of Rangpur Medical College.
Rajibul told the tribunal he conducted the autopsy on Abu Sayed, the first martyr of the July movement.
He said that Abu Sayed died from internal bleeding caused by police gunfire; however, the police did not accept this report even after Rajibul submitted it three times.
He added that he faced threats and pressure to alter the findings and was even offered trips abroad to Singapore and Thailand.
Witness hearings began on 3 August with the testimony of Khokon Chandra Barman, who was injured during the protests.
On 4 August, student Abdullah Al Imran, left crippled in the movement, and day labourer Parveen, who lost an eye, gave evidence.
Subsequent witnesses have included injured protesters, family members of those killed, and medical professionals.
Among them were Shahina Begum, mother of martyred Sajjad Hossain Sajal; Robiul Awal, brother of martyred Imam Hasan Taim; and Sonia Jamal, mother of martyred Sheikh Mehedi Hasan Junaid.
