Police recovered the body of a garment worker, who was allegedly killed by her former husband, from her residence in Gazipur's Kashimpur area on Monday.

Deceased Mohsina Akter, daughter of Mojibur Rahman of Pirgachha area in Rangpur, worked at GMS Composite Ltd in Kashimpur.

The former husband named Shariful Islam was rescued from the spot in critical condition and rushed to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.

According to police and locals, Mohosina divorced her husband, hailing from Boter Hat village in Nilphamari Sadar upazila, a week ago.

Before the separation, they had been living together in a rented house in Sardaganj area of ​​Kashimpur.

At around 7:00 am on Monday, Shariful suddenly came home and engaged in an altercation with her.

He allegedly stabbed his wife with a sharp knife at one stage of the argument.

Shariful was also injured during a scuffle with Mohsina. 

She died on the spot.

GMP Konabari Zone Assistant Commissioner Thoai Ampru Marma said the body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Filing of a case in this regard was under process, said Thoai Ampru Marma.
