Four districts get new DCs, 34 changed in seven months
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification today (29 September) appointing new DCs in Tangail, Nilphamari, Patuakhali and Pirojpur.
The government has appointed new deputy commissioners (DCs) to four districts, bringing the total number of districts where DCs have been changed to 34 since the BNP government took office in February.

Md Humayun Kabir, deputy secretary of the Finance Division, has been appointed DC of Nilphamari, while Chowdhury Ashraful Karim, also a deputy secretary of the Finance Division, has been appointed DC of Patuakhali.
Md Golam Robbani, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, has been appointed DC of Pirojpur. Meanwhile, Pirojpur's current DC Abu Sayied has been transferred to Tangail as DC.
The outgoing DCs of three districts have also been transferred to different ministries after being promoted to the rank of joint secretary.
Nilphamari DC Mohammad Nairuzzaman has been transferred to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Tangail DC Sharifa Haque to the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Patuakhali DC Dr Mohammad Shaheed Hossain Chowdhury to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The latest appointments are part of a series of changes in the field administration since the new government took office on 17 February. The government began its first major round of DC reshuffles on 1 March, when the DCs of Gazipur, Panchagarh, Kushtia, Netrokona and Chapainawabganj were withdrawn.
New DCs were subsequently appointed in 11 districts on 29 March, followed by changes in four districts on 1 April.
Further changes were made in Dhaka, Faridpur and Sherpur in April, followed by reshuffles in several districts in June, July and August. In August, the DCs of Natore, Gaibandha and Rangpur were withdrawn.
The Ministry of Public Administration is also working on a new "fit list" of administration cadre officials for appointment as DCs in other districts.
According to ministry sources, interviews of 30th BCS administration cadre officials for potential appointment as DCs began on 30 August. Around 140 officials have so far been interviewed as part of the process.
