Former UP chairman Hiru arrested in Chattogram
He also served as the science and technology affairs secretary of Awami League’s Anwara upazila unit.
Police have arrested the former chairman of Chatari Union Parishad in Chattogram's Anwara upazila, who had reportedly gone into hiding after the fall of the Awami League government.
Md Yasin Hiru, 49, was arrested yesterday night (2 August) during a drive in the city's Kotwali area, said Anwara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Monir Hossain.
He said, "Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a special drive and arrested him. He is accused in multiple cases."
The former UP chairman -- who also served as the science and technology affairs secretary of Awami League's Anwara upazila unit -- is an accused in a case filed over an alleged attack on a BNP rally in Anwara on 20 October 2020.
"He will be produced before court on Sunday (3 August)," the OC added.
