Former Awami League lawmaker's house vandalised, torched in Lakshmipur
The incident occurred in the town’s Mohila College area, where several youths allegedly identifying themselves as ‘July fighters’ stormed the property, vandalised furniture and set it on fire.

A group of unidentified individuals vandalised and torched the residence of Awami League leader Nuruddin Chowdhury Nayan, a former member of parliament for Lakshmipur-2 constituency, this afternoon (1 October).
The incident occurred in the town's Mohila College area, where several youths allegedly identifying themselves as 'July fighters' stormed the property, vandalised furniture and set it on fire.
Saiful Islam Raju, firefighter at Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed the incident and said the fire was soon extinguished.
"The former MP's house was previously burnt down on 4 August. It was set on fire again today," he added.
When contacted, Abdul Monnaf, officer-in-charge of Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station, said any complaint was yet to be filed over the incident.
Renovation work was underway at the house, and part of a security wall was demolished during the attack.
Abdul Majed, a construction worker involved in the renovation, said, "We were carrying out repair work when, around 5:00pm, a group of youths arrived and ordered us to stop.
"They then broke down a wall and set fire to the furniture."
Nayan, Awami League's Lakshmipur district unit general secretary, has been in hiding since 5 August 2024, following the mass uprising which led to the ouster of the Awami League government.
