A fisherman has got 81 big size fishes at Kutubdia channel of Moheshkhali island in Cox's Bazar in a single catch. He sold the fishes, weighing around 15-25 kilograms each, at a total of Tk40 lakh.

The catch has almost changed his fate of Jamal Uddin Bahadder — a fisherman of Moheshkhali's Matarbari area. Jamal Uddin said he set his net on the west side of Kutubdia channel on Tuesday night.

"I went there on Wednesday morning to pull up my net. I could not get it back on my own as it was too heavy. Later, locals joined me and I found the huge catch after pulling up the net," said Jamal Uddin.

"All of the fishes are big, weighing around 15 to 25 kilograms," he added.

Hearing the news, people thronged the spot and wholesalers began bedding. One Ishak of Cox's Bazar secured the bid at Tk40 lakh.

Matarbari Union Parishad Chairman Rahmat Ullah said this is first ever for any fisherman of the locality to get such a huge yield in a single catch. This is absolutely amazing.
