LNG supply cut at Moheskhali terminal causes low gas pressure in Ctg
Customers will experience low gas pressure until supply improves, according to Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited.
Gas pressure has dropped across Chattogram due to reduced supply of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) from the Moheskhali LNG terminal, Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited (KGDCL) said today (13 August).
In a press release, the state-owned gas distributor said customers of all categories within its distribution area would continue to experience low gas pressure until the supply situation improves.
The company attributed the disruption to the reduced RLNG supply from the Moheskhali terminal but did not specify the reason for the decline.

The gas distributor also apologised for the temporary inconvenience caused to its customers.
Meanwhile, gas shortage has already disrupted daily life across Chattogram. Since low gas pressure emerged earlier this week, long queues of CNG-run vehicles have formed at filling stations, with many autorickshaws forced off the roads after waiting hours to refuel.
Shortage has also affected households, with locals in several areas reporting low or no gas supply for cooking.
Abdul Gafur, an autorickshaw driver waiting at a filling station in the Oxygen intersection area, told The Business Standard that he had been in line since 7am and it took until the afternoon to get gas because low pressure had made refuelling three to four times slower than usual.
Latifun Nahar, a garment worker in the EPZ area, told TBS that the shortage of autorickshaws had forced commuters like her to rely on overcrowded buses.
