Rough weather hits LNG unloading in Moheshkhali; nation faces low gas pressure
The gas disruption is expected to persist until weather conditions improve, allowing the delayed cargo to resume its unloading operations safely.
Gas supply across Bangladesh is expected to be low as rough weather in the Bay of Bengal has disrupted liquefied natural gas (LNG) unloading at the floating terminal in Moheshkhali, the state-run Petrobangla announced today (7 July).
According to a message issued by the oil and gas company, the regasified LNG (RLNG) supply from the Moheshkhali Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) has dropped by approximately 300 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd).
The sudden drop occurred after an adverse maritime weather system prevented a scheduled LNG cargo from starting its delivery operations.
As a result of the supply shortfall, consumers across all categories nationwide will face low gas pressure in their daily usage, said Petrobangla.
This disruption is expected to persist until weather conditions improve, allowing the delayed cargo to resume its unloading operations safely.
In its message, Petrobangla apologised to household and commercial consumers for the temporary inconvenience and assured that regular supply lines will be restored as soon as maritime operations return to normal.
