A 60-year-old fisherman was beaten by locals and handed over to the police in Munshiganj's Sreenagar upazila for allegedly attempting to rape a five-year-old girl.

"He will be sent to court this afternoon."
The incident took place around 11pm yesterday (12 March) in Brahman Paiksa village of Kolapara union.
The victim's mother alleged that the accused lured her daughter with chocolates and took her near a pond.
"He tried to assault her there, but she managed to run away," she said.
Locals said the accused Sujan Das was a travelling fisherman from Gaibandha district, who also practised talismans and spiritual healing.
