The body of an eleven-year-old madrasa student was recovered from inside a mosque in Brahmanbaria's Sarail upazila this morning (6 July).
The deceased, Maimuna Akhter Moyna, was a student of Jamia Islamia Mahila Madrasa in Hablipara area of Shahbazpur village, under Shahbazpur union.
She was the daughter of expatriate Abdur Razzak, currently residing in Saudi Arabia.
Police recovered the body from the second floor of Hablipara Jame Mosque, confirmed Assistant Superintendent of Police (Sarail Circle) Tapan Sarker.
Following the discovery, the mosque's imam, Md Hamidur Rahman, 35, and muezzin, Md Saidul Islam, 21, were taken into police custody for questioning.
Family members told police that Maimuna went missing yesterday afternoon (5 July) on her way home from the madrasa.
Despite extensive efforts to trace her whereabouts, the family found no clue until her body was found inside the mosque this morning.
ASP Tapan Sarker said, "There were signs of injuries on the victim's body. The body has been sent to the district hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. The imam and muezzin are currently in police custody for interrogation."
