A man and his four-year-old daughter were killed in a motorcycle accident in Bogura's Mohipur today (31 March).

The deceased were identified as Shah Alam, 32 and his daughter Sejdan Alam Samanta. Shah Alam's father-in-law, Babul Akhtar injured in the incident.

The accident occurred around 3:00pm in the upazila's Jamtola area when a speeding unidentified vehicle hit their motorcycle, Sherpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Rabiul Islam told The Business Standard.

"Legal action has been taken regarding the incident," the SI added.

According to eyewitnesses, a speeding vehicle ran them over and fled the scene. Locals rushed the injured to Sherpur Upazila Health Complex, but Shah Alam and his daughter succumbed to their injuries on the way.

Sherpur Highway Police Camp Sub-Inspector Abdul Khaleq said Babul Akhtar is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. "After completing legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to the family."

Earlier in the day, around 1:0pm, another accident occurred in front of the Mohipur Fire Service, leaving five people injured.
