Every Bangladeshi wants to create democratic state without oppression over beliefs, Ali Riaz tells Islami Andolan
He also said while each political party had its own ideological plan of running the state, there were opportunities to build a state structure by rising above differences

The desire of every citizen of Bangladesh is to create a democratic state where people will not be victims of disappearances and murders, and no one will be subjected to oppression because of their own beliefs, Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission Aliz Riaz said today (7 May).
Speaking at the beginning of a discussion between the Islamic Andolan Bangladesh (Pir Charmonai) and the commission at the Jatiya Sangsad Complex, he said, "We are trying to achieve the long-standing desire of the people to form a democratic state structure."
Expressing hope of reaching a consensus by highlighting the interests of the nation, state and people, Professor Ali Riaz said while each political party had its own ideological plan of running the state, there were opportunities to build a state structure by rising above differences.
"I do not think that consensus will be built only through formal discussions with the commission. A joint effort is necessary to create a national charter through consensus building," he added.
The IAB submitted their opinions to the commission on 10 April regarding reform proposals.
An 11-member delegation led by its Secretary General Principal Hafez Maulana Yunus Ahmed Sheikh met the commission regarding those today.
